C4RR co-organized a Symposium on the Challenges and Successes to Agricultural Technology Transfer Globally
Dr. Sue Cohen co-organized an international symposium on the "Challenges and Successes to Agricultural Technology Transfer Globally" at the ICPP meeting in Boston, MA this year and presented Certificates of Achievements to four outstanding scientists. Researchers were selected based on current presentations related to the special session and previous research accomplishments . Peter Bonants, plant health manager at Wageningen Plant Research, Wageningen, Netherlands, was recognized for his ongoing development of diagnostic methods for global plant quarantine activities and his presentation “Innovative detection methods to support plant health diagnostics .” James Dale, Distinguished Professor at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, was recognized for his research accomplishments in banana diseases and his presentation “Genetic engineering for resistance to Panama disease and banana bunchy top .” Alessandra Alves de Souza, researcher at Centro de Citricultura Sylvio Moreira—Agronomic Institute (IAC), Cordeiropolis, Brazil, was recognized for her research accomplishments in molecular microbe–plant interactions and her presentation “Advances and innovative concepts to control Xylella fastidiosa colonization in
citrus plants .” Mathews Paret, assistant professor at the University of Florida, Quincy, United States, was recognized for his extension program on disease management of tomatoes and his presentation “A novel alternative to copper bactericide: Magnesium based nanomaterials for
management of tomato bacterial spot .”
